Mike received his Masters of Physical Therapy at Samuel Merritt College in 2001. He has been at PT Works since 2005 and became co-owner of PT Works with Kristin Shadduck in January 2016. His postgraduate training includes a year long Australian manual therapy course, and a year long Norwegian manual and exercise based course with emphasis on the spine. Other manual therapy training courses include MFR (Myofascial Release) and ART(Active Release Technique), Mulligan joint mobilization, and PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation). He also has specific training in assessment and treatment for golf. Mike is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the Orthopedic section of APTA.
Mike's specialties include dynamic stabilization training for the lumbar & cervical spine, sports specific training for the shoulder, knee, and ankle, and manual therapy techniques. He believes in a philosophy of utilizing manual therapy along with a guided exercise program and postural/body mechanics training for maximal benefit and speed of recovery. Treatments focus on neuromuscular reeducation to assist in improving skeletal alignment and decreasing muscle imbalances to relieve stress to the injured tissue or joint. He also teaches a golf course one time a year that is open to the public.
Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Jill and sons Drew and Charlie. He spends much of his spare time working on house projects, coaching his sons, playing guitar, exercising, playing soccer, ultimate frisbee, and watching the Chargers and Padres win.
