Maureen Lipa was born in South Africa, immigrated to Canada where she went to Physical Therapy school and then moved to California. She began working in the bay area in 1982 in inpatient and outpatient departments of an acute care hospital. Later she provided rehabilitative physical therapy in a skilled nursing facility. For the past 20 years she has worked in an outpatient orthopedic practice and is now settled down feeling at home with the outstanding patient centered therapy provided at PT Works.
Over the years, she has honed her skills in treating many patients with orthopedic musculo-skeletal complaints, neck and back injuries, and various foot, ankle, knee, hip, shoulder and upper extremity dysfunctions. She teaches an educational seminar on posture and appropriate exercises related to prevention of osteoporosis. She has spent time working in the high tech industry providing ergonomic advice and education. Her recent seminars have been in Vestibular testing and Balance assessment for which she is developing her expertise.
In her youth, she swam competitively and ran to stay fit. These days, long walks and riding her bike to work keep her strong and healthy. She is happily married to Steve and has two children, Jordan and Jesse.
